Sasol has delayed output of oil products from natural gas at a plant in Qatar after a technical failure.

top.DisplayAds(‘SquarLAV’,17,563); “We are confident that the first product will be produced during the fourth quarter and will be ready for market by the first quarter” of next year, Sasol spokesperson Johann van Rheede said in an e-mail yesterday. The company initially planned to start selling the plant’s products in the fourth quarter.

One of the support systems for the $1 billion (R7.4 billion) Oryx gas-to-liquids plant had failed, Sasol said. The failure was not related to Sasol technology. Van Rheede said: “The damaged equipment has been repaired.”
